I am a professional artist living in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
The desire to make something with my hands has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I began painting as a hobby while raising my family and working full-time. Since retiring I have turned the hobby into a full-time endeavor. I have taken instruction from many renowned artists, always striving to improve my skills and spark new ideas. I am a member of several professional artist organizations and I exhibit and sell my paintings online, at juried art shows and exhibitions throughout Pennsylvania.
WHY DO I MAKE ART?
The simple answer is because it makes me happy. I choose to create paintings that make me feel good. It is my way of recording memories, experiences and emotions and the affect they have on me. I paint for my own pleasure, for the pure excitement of creating something new. I am thrilled when my paintings make other people happy too. I find art to be very therapeutic. Whether I am creating or viewing art it is my go-to stress reliever and mood booster.
It is said that the sensitive nature of artists allow them to find beauty and joy in places others may not. For me that beauty and joy is found in the natural world. Flowers, trees and oceans speak to me and are my inspiration. An exploration of expansive landscapes, both real and imagined, has led to a recent series of work.
Whether creating representational or abstract art, I use color to communicate what I am feeling, what I see in my mind, and what is in my heart. Oh how I love the electricity of color! I use color to communicate emotion and energy. Color is impactful, meaningful and transformative. I enjoy taking risks and exploring the use of unconventional color in my landscapes. Art is my personal journey to self-awareness and happiness.
